Waite General Store Continues Support of DLLT and Yacolucci Woods

October 21, 2015

The work of the Downeast Lakes Land Trust (DLLT) is a collaborative effort that requires a great deal of support from individuals, organizations, and businesses.  Without assistance from the surrounding communities, conserving natural resources and spaces becomes much more difficult when left to a few people.  One locally-owned business that is continuing its support of DLLT’s mission is the Waite General Store.

On September 12th, Waite General Store held the 4th Annual “Town of Waite Yahd Sale,” complete with live music, barbecue, and ice cream sundaes.  The sale has steadily grown into an area event, with proceeds benefiting local families and organizations.  The sales from this year’s vendor fees were donated to DLLT’s Yacolucci Woods property, located along Route 1 on the Waite/Talmadge town line.   In addition to the generous donation, Waite General Store also gifted two outdoor benches for public use at the property.

“We always try to help out local causes,” said Wayne Seidl, co-owner of the Waite General Store. “It just makes sense to keep the money where it counts – with local people.”

The Downeast Lakes Land Trust would like to thank all of our local business partners.  They play a critical role in supporting community-led conservation success in the Downeast Lakes region.  Be sure to stop by the Waite General Store on your next trip up to DLLT’s Yacolucci Woods!
