Support DLLT This Thanksgiving Weekend (And Beyond!)

November 22, 2016

It’s here! Time for a plate full of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, the works…  Likely followed by a long walk at your favorite local conservation land (or a nap!).  While many people will be watching football or heading into the woods, others will spend their holiday weekend shopping from the comfort of their own home.  Thankfully, there are new ways to support Downeast Lakes Land Trust while you shop!

With “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” on the horizon, there are two ways to give back to your favorite local non-profit organization simply by shopping, at no cost to you.  AmazonSmile donates 0.5% on qualifying items to a charity of your choice, by shopping at smile.amazon.com.  Most purchases that you make on Amazon will qualify on AmazonSmile.  Another great aid to non-profits is GivingAssistant.org.  Through online shopping at over 2,000 individual retailers, Giving Assistant donates a certain percentage to the non-profit of your choice, again at no cost to the consumer.  These are two great ways to contribute to local organizations and charities.  Please visit DLLT’s Support page for direct links and more details.

With the ability to have a major impact on small organizations, a growing movement of charitable giving has spawned “Giving Tuesday.”  After your holiday meals have digested, next Tuesday (November 29th) is celebrated as the designated day to make direct donations to your favorite non-profit groups.  These year-end charitable gifts can go a long way to supporting conservation in the Downeast Lakes region – a place where we all love to work, play, and explore.  If you have any questions about the many ways to support Downeast Lakes Land Trust, please visit our Support page, or call us at (207) 796 – 2100.
