Why I Give
We like to donate to the Downeast Lakes Land Trust because DLLT helps to provide opportunities for healthy living in the outdoors. The work of the DLLT provides employment and educational programs for all ages, and access to the lakes, the stream and woods for all. Our family enjoys the community events that have built bonds and memories that will last a lifetime. We make it a priority to donate to the Land Trust each year.

Owning a camp on the northern end of the Down East lakes, we are enthusiastic supporters of the Down East Lakes Land Trust. The group’s clarity of purpose, enshrined in its motto, “Forests and Lakes for People . . . Forever,” says it all. Campaigns
Gifts to DLLT’s capital projects and endowment are investments in sustaining our future. Your contributions help conserve our 58,220 acres of community forests (90+ sq miles) and safeguard the wildlife habitat, waters, and recreational opportunities these forests provide.

Annual Fund
The DLLT Annual Appeal provides essential immediate support to be utilized in the current year. We rely on philanthropy from our DLLT family to:

Donations of Stock
Donating stock can be more beneficial than donating cash because it allows the donor to avoid capital gains taxes and may result in a larger tax deduction. If the stock has appreciated in value, donating it directly to charity is typically more advantageous than selling it and donating the proceeds. Avoid potential capital gains taxes by making a gift of appreciated securities.
