On June 16, 2020, Downeast Lakes Land Trust, in collaboration with Maine Department of Environmental Protection and Lake Stewards of Maine, hosted a Facebook live presentation on invasive Variable Water Milfoil. This milfoil was recently found in Big Lake and represents the northeastern-most infestation of Variable Water Milfoil in Maine.
More resources on how you can help protect our waters from invasive aquatic plants in the Downeast Lakes region will be posted in the coming weeks, so please check back regularly for updates. Voluntary boat inspections will be happening at the Greenlaw Chopping Boat ramp Saturday and Sunday afternoons throughout the summer. These inspections are available to the public at no cost, thanks to financial support from Maine DEP. They are entirely voluntary, and are being conducted by DLLT staff in conjunction with Lake Stewards of Maine.
Please enjoy this copy of the milfoil presentation, and feel free to contact DLLT with any further questions you may have at info@downeastlakes.org or (207)-796-2100.
