The Hill Gould Buck is a legendary Maine whitetail deer harvested by Hill Gould near Grand Lake Stream, Maine.
In 2011, Bass Pro Shops “Kings of Bucks” show featured the Hill Gould Buck in “Tales of the King” on the Outdoor Channel.
The show highlights Grand Lake Stream Guide Louie Cataldo, grandson of Hill Gould, and Maine’s rich Guiding tradition. Louie tells the story of his grandfather and the buck, and explains that Bass Pro Shops helped Downeast Lakes Land Trust ensure the permanent conservation of the forest where the buck lived and grew to its impressive size.
See our Board Member Profile of Louie in our summer 2010 newsletter. Louie is now chairing our Fish & Wildlife Habitat committee, and helping lead the land trust’s efforts to do more for deer, grouse, woodcock, brook trout, and all our native wildlife. Enjoy the show, and check our Visitor’s Guide to plan your trip to Grand Lake Stream, or learn about our Conservation work!
