Explore the frozen heath surrounding Big Musquash Stream in search of wildlife. Be on the lookout for river otters, beavers, muskrat, and bald eagles, along with other signs of life on the ice. We will visit some nesting boxes that in the summer are only reachable by boat. These make the perfect nesting locations for many bird species including wood ducks and goldeneye. We will open the boxes, look for eggshells and other evidence of use. We will also venture further down the heath to place 2 new boxes for this coming nesting season. End the day with some hot tea and a new appreciation for critters in the heath.
