Join consulting forester Si Balch and DLLT Managing Forester Ernest Carle for an informative visit to the Downeast Lakes Community Forest.  Forestry has many aspects, and we will discuss how these are incorporated into the forest management and mission of DLLT. Si Balch is the Former Forest Director of New England Forestry Foundation (2004 – 2010).  Prior to his time with NEFF, he was the Chief Forester and Silviculturalist in New England for several companies including Boise Cascade, Mead, and Mead Westvaco (1970 – 2003). He has traveled in Scandinavia, France, Germany, Slovenia, England, and Russia learning about their forest management. He is now doing local forestry consulting in Brooklin, Maine. Ernest Carle joined DLLT in the winter of 2019.  A native of Princeton, ME, Ernest brings more than 40 years of forest management experience to DLLT.  Ernest holds a B.S. in Forest Engineering from the University of Maine – Orono. Please be ready to drive to a few sites and have water and sturdy shoes for exploring the woods.

Please follow all recommended CDC guidelines for DLLT programs and events this summer.  Thank you!
