Second opportunity! Come learn about one of Maine’s native owls – the Saw-whet! ALL ages welcome. Meet with the Education and Volunteer Coordinator at DLLT’s office at 4 Water St in Grand Lake Stream. Learn about where and when Saw-whets nest, what to listen for, and how to help protect these owls.
Next, we’ll head out into the woods, so dress for the weather. The Natural Resource Manager is selecting the locations for the nesting boxes to make sure the perfect habitat is chosen for these adorable owls. Participants will stay together and volunteers can hang-up nesting boxes. The nesting boxes can be ‘adopted’ and monitored throughout the year. Let us know if you are interested in adopting a nesting box.
