Downeast Lakes Land Trust is turning all of Grand Lake Stream red, white, and blue with a jam-packed weekend of fun events! Head to GLS this Fourth of July weekend for all of these exciting programs. Specific event details below:
****All weekend long (July 1-4)**** – Sign up for the Independence Extravaganza Scavenger Hunt on the Goose Chase app! This weekend-long team scavenger hunt is filled with outdoor activities, and prizes for the winners!
West Grand Lake Race! – This annual favorite event is happening at a new date, but same location and time. Bring your boats, paddles, and PFD’s to GLS Town Beach on Shaw Street for a kids race, 4, 6, and 12 mile courses on West Grand Lake. Registration is from 9:15-10:30 am, followed by a brief safety talk which all boaters must participate in. NEW THIS YEAR – this event is FREE! Each registrant will receive a ticket for lunch, and t-shirts can be purchased via donation to DLLT.
Tunes and Trolling – Following the race, at 4 pm, bring your boat up to the cove near Leen’s Lodge (if you need directions, please call DLLT at 796-2100). We will be hosting Alexander, ME’s own Patrick Cormier for a music performance, live from an island in the middle of West Grand! Relax and enjoy the tunes from the water and jam out with other boaters.
Race For Grand Lake Stream – DLLT’s annual road race to support the “Grand Lake Stream America” festivities. Race registration will be held from 8-8:45 am on the DLLT lawn, and the bus to the starting line will leave promptly at 9 am. Run back to the center of the village to kick off the morning!
Grand Lake Stream Parade – Starting at 11 am, hang out along Milford Road and Water Street to watch the celebrations of this grand village parade (look for the DLLT float!).
Tubing The Stream – At 1 pm, meet DLLT staff and volunteers at the West Grand Lake Dam parking area for a lazy river ride down Grand Lake Stream. DLLT will provide the tubes and shuttle service, and participants should bring a PFD and bathing suit. Take a few runs to cool off on the Fourth!
