July 4 Celebration Events

Join us in Grand Lake Stream for a 4th of July celebration jam packed full of activities!

Start the morning with our annual “Race For Grand Lake Stream”, watch the floats go by in the parade, and then grab a tube and float down the river.

 

 

7:00am – Coffee at the Pine Tree Store

8:00am – Opening Service at the Guide’s Wharf

Sponsored by the Grand Lake Stream Church

 

8:30am – Race for Grand Lake Stream – 5k Foot Race

8:30am – Registration for this annual 5k race starts at 8:30am in front of the land trust office, 4 Water Street.
Registration is $25 for adults, $15 for kids under 15 and free for kids under 5. The first 50 people to register will receive a race t-shirt!

9:00am – Transportation is offered to the boat launch for the start of the race. Race starts at 9am sharp.

Awards immediately to follow the end of the race.

 

10-11am – Music by the Strumming Wildcats

The Strumming Wildcats will be in front of the Land Trust Building. Many thanks to the band members for participating in this activity!

 

10:30am – Parade Forms

11:00am – “The Best Parade in Maine by a Dam Site”

Parade progresses along Milford Road, then along Water Street and into the Ball Field

Frequently, candy is tossed by the parade participants. Keep a watchful eye out for eager youth wanting treats.

Everyone is invited to participate in the Welcoming Ceremony in the Ball Field.

Floats are available for viewers inspections!

“Pledge of Allegiance”

There will be a frog race in the ball field following the Welcome.  You must provide your own frogs and they must be returned to the area where they were caught.  Winners will be determined by the judge.

 

 

 

 

Stream Tubing – 1:00 to 3:00pm

Meet us at the dam from 1-3pm to float down the stream! Everyone is invited and the event is free. PFD’s are required for everyone participating and DLLT will have some extras if you need one. You may bring your own tube or borrow one of ours. You will be transported back to the dam so that you can float down as many times as you’d like!

The Pine Tree Store is open for snacks, drinks, and food all day.
