Throughout July and August, Explorations & Adventures is a free, weekly educational series for children ages 6-10, on Tuesdays from 9:30 am – 12 pm.  These programs are free, and all ages are welcome!  Interested participants should come to the School Building in Grand Lake Stream ready for outdoor activities, rain or shine!  Some of the activities require pre-registration, as space may be limited.  Each week will consist of a focused topic.  For more information, please contact Downeast Lakes Land Trust at (207) 796 – 2100, or email info@downeastlakes.org.

July 2 – Nature Journaling – Local writer Robin Follette will help you create your very own nature journal, and head outdoors to practice writing in it!

July 9 – Wildflower ID & Pressing – Join DLLT staff in search of native wildflowers to identify, and choose a couple of favorites to immortalize in a flower press.

July 16 – Gardening & Planting – Learn the basics of gardening and flower growth, as we fill up the newly-created flower beds in the center of Grand Lake Stream.

July 23 – Pollinators! – Join Linda and Fred Gralenski, as they show us the wild world of these immensely important insects.

July 30 – Tower Hill Trail Hike – DLLT staff will lead this short day-hike in the community forest that passes by the last remaining wooden fire tower in New England.

August 6 – Pontoon Boat Trip – Space is very limited on this leisurely cruise on West Grand Lake.  Please call to register in advance!

August 13 – Nature Art – In the spirit of Andy Goldsworthy, kids will create their own nature-inspired outdoor art installations.
