Would you like to have fun working with a great team to conserve forests and lakes in Downeast Maine?
Downeast Lakes Land Trust is offering two paid internships for Washington County high schoolers! DLLT is based in Grand Lake Stream. We protect lakeshores, improve fish and wildlife habitats, provide public recreation opportunities, offer educational programs, and support jobs in the forest and on the water. We are dedicated to the Downeast economy and environment.
Interns will gain broad experience in conservation work, including trail maintenance and construction, wildlife monitoring with remote trail cameras, vegetation and water quality sampling, timber harvest planning, public event preparation, and assisting with educational programs for kids and adults.
Qualifications: To be eligible, applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 19, hold a valid driver’s license, and be a Washington County student. Homeschoolers and graduating seniors also are encouraged to apply. Applicant must have a positive attitude, maturity, and a willingness to work hard in the outdoors in all weather conditions.
Details: Interns will work approximately 40 hours per week for 6 weeks, and will be responsible for daily transportation to and from Grand Lake Stream. Field housing is included, if needed. Some holiday and weekend work may be required. Start and end dates are flexible. Interns will receive a summer stipend of $2,000.
