Attention: Temporary Road Closure West of Grand Lake Stream

July 22, 2013

UPDATE: AUGUST 1, 3:15 pm:  Construction work is complete, and the road is open.  Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE: JULY 31, 7:15 pm:  Road construction work will be continuing on Thursday, August 1; the road is still closed. We will have a nice brook trout stream, and a reliable road, when we are done. Thank you for your patience.

Downeast Lakes Land Trust would like to alert local residents and visitors to a temporary road closure that will block all vehicle traffic just west of Grand Lake Stream while a culvert is replaced on the Fourth Lake Rd.  The site is between the Historical Society Driveway and the Snowmobile Clubhouse.

As of press time, work is expected to be conducted on Wednesday July 31, and may extend into Thursday, August 1.  Project timing could change, and updates will be posted here.

Detours are long, and travelers are recommended to consider alternate arrangements. This is the road into or out of the village on the west (not the paved road east to Route 1).  The trust apologizes for this inconvenience.

The project is being conducted to restore aquatic habitat on Billy Brown Brook, a tributary to Grand Lake Stream.
