EDUCATION PROGRAMS

The goals of DLLT Education Programs
 are to build
knowledge,
appreciation, and respect for the:


natural environment,
local cultural heritage, and
natural resources and their traditional uses;
 

of the Downeast Lakes Land Trust Farm Cove Community Forest and surrounding areas.

Nature Brigade: Explorations and Adventures Summer 2008
     

Tuesdays, July 1– August 12  Nature Brigade Explorations and Adventures, 9:30-12 noon.
DLLT sponsors weekly educational activities for children ages 6-12, with all ages welcome to participate. Rain or shine, dress appropriately for the activity and the weather, bring water bottle, sun screen and bug spray. Snacks will be provided. See details on each week’s program below.

Thursday, July 17  DLLT History & Heritage Series:  Birding by Ear and Identifying Common Birds, 6:30 PM
Bob Duchesne is a passionate and skilled birder who is leading the effort to develop the Maine Birding Trail. He is President of the Penobscot Valley Chapter of Maine Audubon, and has led birding trips from Atlantic Canada to Florida.

Thursday, August 21  DLLT History & Heritage Series:  Handmade Wooden String Instruments– Craft and Music, 6:30 PM
Thom Knowles of Dragonfly Instruments will show  examples of his handmade wooden stringed instruments—from banjos and mandolins to guitars—and play some music.
